As your next Governor, I pledge to make Kansas government a model of efficiency, transparency, and fiscal responsibility. My administration will establish the Kansas Department of Government Efficiency (K-DOGE), inspired by bold federal initiatives to eliminate fraud, waste, and bureaucracy. K-DOGE will be a relentless task force with one goal: to ensure every taxpayer dollar is spent wisely, delivering maximum value to Kansans.
K-DOGE will target agencies under the Governor’s authority, including the Kansas Department of Education, Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE), Department of Administration, Department of Aging and Disability Services, Department of Agriculture, Department of Children and Families, Department of Commerce, Department of Corrections, Department of Labor, Department of Revenue, Department of Transportation, Adjutant General’s Department, Kansas Bureau of Investigation, Kansas Highway Patrol, Kansas Lottery, and Kansas Public Employees Retirement System, among others. We will also review smaller boards and commissions, such as the State Board of Healing Arts and Kansas State Fair Board, to eliminate redundancies and outdated mandates.
In the Department of Education, K-DOGE will audit programs to ensure funds prioritize classrooms, teachers, and students—not administrative bloat. For KDHE, we’ll scrutinize spending to eliminate waste, protect essential services, and ensure compliance with Kansas law, including thorough reviews of state-funded programs like those involving abortion clinics. The Department of Administration will be streamlined to cut overhead in procurement and human resources. Children and Families and Labor will be examined for fraud in benefits programs, while Transportation and Commerce will face audits to prevent cost overruns and duplicative incentives. Corrections and the Kansas Bureau of Investigation will be optimized for operational efficiency, and the Kansas Lottery will undergo vendor contract reviews to maximize revenue.
K-DOGE will operate with full transparency, publishing regular reports on savings achieved and reforms implemented. By rooting out inefficiencies and fraud, we’ll redirect resources to what matters most: world-class education, accessible healthcare, robust infrastructure, and a thriving economy.
