As your next Governor, I, Doug Billings, will lead a Stronger Education revolution in Kansas, empowering parents, prioritizing students, and restoring a values-driven education system. With the federal Department of Education gone, I will remove curriculum decisions from Topeka’s bureaucrats and place them in the hands of parents and local school boards, ensuring schools reflect Kansas’ heartland values.
My administration will overhaul school curricula to focus on foundational skills and critical thinking. Every Kansas student will master reading, writing (including cursive), arithmetic, civics, history, and philosophy. Civics and history will teach the truth about our nation’s founding and Kansas’ proud heritage, while philosophy will foster critical thinking and intellectual resilience. To promote well-rounded development, schools will offer meaningful physical education programs to encourage fitness and teamwork, paired with healthy food services to nourish growing minds and bodies.
Every school day will begin with a moment of private prayer, as permitted by existing Kansas law, allowing students to reflect in accordance with their beliefs. This will be followed by the Pledge of Allegiance, reinforcing unity and patriotism. To maintain focus on our shared identity, only the United States and Kansas flags will be permitted in Kansas classrooms, symbolizing our commitment to national and state pride.
I will eliminate WOKE agendas and DEI initiatives from our schools, ensuring classrooms prioritize academic excellence over divisive ideologies. I will work with the Republican-led Legislature to codify these reforms, creating a transparent education system grounded in truth and traditional values.
I will fiercely protect female sports by enforcing Kansas laws and President Trump’s ban on biological males competing in women’s athletics. Through the Kansas Department of Government Efficiency (K-DOGE), I will audit the Kansas Department of Education to ensure compliance with these protections, safeguarding fair and safe opportunities for our daughters.
As a father to my 22-year-old son with Down syndrome, who thrived with the educational resources of the Olathe School District, I am deeply committed to protecting and enhancing services for children with special needs. My administration will secure funding and programs for students with intellectual and physical disabilities, ensuring access to tailored support, therapies, and opportunities. K-DOGE will review special education budgets to eliminate waste while prioritizing these critical resources, ensuring no child is left behind.
I will champion school choice, empowering families to choose the best educational paths—public, private, or homeschool—for their children. By placing parents and local school boards at the helm, we will create a system that meets the unique needs of every student and community.
As Governor, my Stronger Education platform will build a Kansas where every child receives a world-class education, free from ideological agendas and equipped for success. Together, we will protect our children’s futures, honor parental rights, and prepare the next generation to lead with integrity, critical thinking, and pride in our Kansas and American heritage.
